In 2008 it is Cyndi Lauper's 25th Anniversary in the music industry as a solo artist. To help celebrate this anniversary we are starting a Re-Issues Campaign. The Cyndi Lauper Re-Issue Campaign is an effort to have her first 3 recordings that Cyndi Lauper released on the Portrait & Epic labels re-issued in CD format with extra tracks. Many fans feel that this period was the peak of Lauper's career and abilities. In addition to re-issuing Cyndi Lauper's CDs, we are campaigning for the release of a DVD Collection containing all her videos never released before on any format. Unfortunately, Portrait / Epic (now a member of the Sony / BMG family) have left most of their Cyndi Lauper library to gather dust in the vaults. In a statement, the Hives note, "It may sound weird and come as a surprise to some, but we had to. It came to us. It landed in our lap and was way too good to shake or toss. We knew we had to record it. A sign if you will." Lauper adds, "This goes to show even rat sideswipers can have a good Xmas too." You know what? She's so unusual. Cyndi's currently spending the shopping season in South America (when she isn't hanging out on "Gossip Girl"), while the Hives have but one live engagement planned before SantaJesus' birthday, and quite a few afterwards. They'll hit "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on November 20.  |

BBC 3 - Most Annoying Pop Songs We Hate to Love. An affectionate, light-hearted, countdown of 100 classic pop hits that stormed the music charts and secured their place in our hearts. It's a mixture of those catchy songs you relish in private but wouldn't dare to be caught dancing to in public, or those maddening tunes that are so catchy you just can't get them out of your head. Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun was at #83. Celebs talked about why they love the song and what it means to them. They also showed clips from her various UK TV appearances '83 / '84 including her Top Of The Pops performance of Girls. The episode is repeated on 8th March @ 01.30 on BBC 3.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Top 50 - On Thursday 15th November, Magic aired their poll; Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - top 50 and Cyndi Lauper came in at #1. They of course played Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
DVD first for BMG - BMG is bringing out an 80s compilation incorporating an interactive karaoke DVD, believed to be the first time such a package has been released. Entitled Ultimate 80s, the DVD features scrolling lyrics and videos of all the tracks along with a double CD containing 40 tracks by the likes of Wham, Cyndi Lauper and Jocelyn Brown. There is an unusual marketing plot going on behind it in addition to the standard advertising activity. BMG is teaming up with Luminar Leisure for joint promotional activities across its network of clubs, whilst radio promotion involving singing showdowns in which listeners can win copies of the album is proving popular. Ultimate 80s is released on 22nd November.

I'm From NY - The Basement Jaxx and Cyndi Lauper have recorded a song together entitled I'm From N Y. The track is a typical Jaxx song. It is still unsure whether or not this track will appear on Cyndi Lauper's yet untitled new album. The unofficial word is that Cyndi & The Basement Jaxx recorded the song with the intention that it would appear on the new album but apparently I'm From NY has not made it onto the final track listing. |

The Grammy Awards 2008 - This year Cyndi Lauper will be one of the guest presenters. As it is the 50th Anniversary this year, there will be a special celebration. Natasha Bedingfield, Cyndi Lauper, DJ Chris Cox, Fourplay and the Gibson/Baldwin GRAMMY(R) Jazz Ensembles will perform at the 2008 GRAMMY Celebration, an exclusive invitation-only, star-studded event, it was announced today by The Recording Academy(R). The gala, catered for the first time by Chef extraordinaire Wolfgang Puck, attracts GRAMMY winners and nominees, music industry executives and celebrities who attend the live telecast. The lavish event will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center on 10th February following the 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The E! Entertainment Channel on Sky will kick of the awards ceremony with Live From The Red Carpet, The 2008 Grammy Awards. Be sure to watch as Cyndi Lauper may be shown arriving at the ceremony. Vh-1 Classic - Top 50 Number 2's Of The 80's! Bank Holiday Monday was 80's Day on Vh-1 Classic and Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun came in at #7 on the list for Top 50 Number 2's Of The 80's.
True Colors Tour 2008 - True Colors Tour 2008 is now being organised. "We’re doing it again. We're starting to fix the dates right now. We intend to play approximately 30 cities in the U.S., which would be double this year’s amount, next year," Podell says. "We will also expand overseas, 10 shows in the UK and maybe five on the continent."
Vh-1 Classic - Women Only Day! On Sunday 19th it was Women Only Day on Vh-1 Classic. Favourite Cyndi videos such as Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Time After Time and True Colors were played. The programme Top 20 Female Artists of the 80's was also aired. Cyndi came in at #10. Her video for True Colors was played.
Storm Chaser' EP - Erasure release their 'Storm Chaser' EP, available on CD, limited edition 7" and download on 24th September 2007. The nine track EP features new, extended and remix versions of tracks taken from their recent album 'Light At The End Of The Word'. The package also includes the song 'Early Bird' which features Cyndi Lauper and Andy Bell on vocals. "We originally recorded Early Bird during the 'Light…' album sessions in Maine last Fall," said Andy Bell. "We were considering some special way to use it apart from the CD and when we agreed to co-headline the True Colors tour, we just thought it might make an interesting duet between Cyndi and us. She put down the vocals in New York and sent the track back to us. We were quite happy with the result and quite happy to have gotten to know her and perform with her on the road this summer."

Set Your Heart - Cyndi Lauper recently premiered a new song called Set Your Heart on a US radio show, Waking Up With Woopie. Unfortunately, Savior Faire her new album has now been delayed. It is not expected to be released until 2008.
Pretty Colored Lights - Allison Cornell - Cyndi features on the song I Fall Down. She sings backing vocals and plays the Drone Box. The whole album is available on i-Tunes UK and I Fall Down can be bought as a single track for £0.79.
Vh-1 Classics! All week on VH-1 Classics it is ladies week. Some of Cyndi Lauper's videos will be shown on various programs throughout the week. A Happy Easter too all! And it was a good weekend too for Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi Lauper's Hey Now (Girls Just Want To Have Fun) video was shown on the Biography Channel as a part of their Bio Pop segment. Whilst the video was playing there were snippets about Cyndi Lauper's life and career.
On The Hits Channel, Heat Magazines Top 100 Songs Of All Time, Girls Just Want To Have Fun came in at #70.

Early Bird - Erasure and Cyndi Lauper - Cyndi Lauper has recorded a duet on a new Erasure song called Early Bird. The song was recorded by Erasure during the recent recording sessions for their new album. When they decided to do the True Colors tour, it was suggested to Cyndi to do the duet.
Cyndi's vocals are superb and the track is a very r&b / Prince-y type of track from Vince and Andy - very different to everything else from the new album, and has been mixed by Gareth Jones.

Vh-1 Classic - Top 50 Number 2's Of The 80's! Bank Holiday Monday was 80's Day on Vh-1 Classic and Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun came in at #7 on the list for Top 50 Number 2's Of The 80's.
True Colors Tour 2008 - True Colors Tour 2008 is now being organised. "We’re doing it again. We're starting to fix the dates right now. We intend to play approximately 30 cities in the U.S., which would be double this year’s amount, next year," Podell says. "We will also expand overseas, 10 shows in the UK and maybe five on the continent."
Vh-1 Classic - Women Only Day! On Sunday 19th it was Women Only Day on Vh-1 Classic. Favourite Cyndi videos such as Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Time After Time and True Colors were played. The programme Top 20 Female Artists of the 80's was also aired. Cyndi came in at #10. Her video for True Colors was played.
Storm Chaser' EP - Erasure release their 'Storm Chaser' EP, available on CD, limited edition 7" and download on 24th September 2007. The nine track EP features new, extended and remix versions of tracks taken from their recent album 'Light At The End Of The Word'. The package also includes the song 'Early Bird' which features Cyndi Lauper and Andy Bell on vocals. "We originally recorded Early Bird during the 'Light…' album sessions in Maine last Fall," said Andy Bell. "We were considering some special way to use it apart from the CD and when we agreed to co-headline the True Colors tour, we just thought it might make an interesting duet between Cyndi and us. She put down the vocals in New York and sent the track back to us. We were quite happy with the result and quite happy to have gotten to know her and perform with her on the road this summer."

Wii - Boogie - Electronic Arts announced that it will be releasing Boogie for Wii on 31st August 2007. The Karaoke, singing and dancing game will feature music by Cyndi Lauper, The Jackson 5, Kool & The Gang, The Village People, M.C. Hammer and Britney Spears. It can be pre-ordered at HMV.
Interview Magazine - The June issue of Interview which features Cyndi Lauper being interviewed by Alan Cummings is now available in the UK at Borders, WH Smiths and other newsagents. It is £3.50.

Vh-1 Classics! Female Solo Stars: Top 40. On Thursday 14th Vh-1 Classics showed their Top 40. Cyndi Lauper came in at #17 on the list. Her video for Girls Just Want To Have Fun was played.
Blue Angel - Cyndi first album with her band Blue Angel is now available in the UK only on i-Tunes. The whole album can be purchased for £7.90 or single tracks for £0.79.
True Colors Tour - Whilst not UK news there is a CD being released to celebrate the True Colors tour in US. On this CD you will find songs from the artists performing on the Tour with Cyndi. There are two new Cyndi Lauper remixes. One is True Colors - Pink Noise Verse Fix and the other a new song called Early Bird - DJ Manolo's True Colors Mix, a duet with Erasure.

TMF - Cyndi was featured on 2 programs over the weekend on the music channel TMF. Ultimate 100 Greatest 80's Songs, Girls Just Want To Have Fun was at #22 and Sex In The 80's, She Bop was discussed. Cyndi talked about the song and other artists commented on She Bop.
May 2007:
Set Your Heart - Cyndi Lauper recently premiered a new song called Set Your Heart on a US radio show, Waking Up With Woopie. Unfortunately, Savior Faire her new album has now been delayed. It is not expected to be released until 2008.
Pretty Colored Lights - Allison Cornell - Cyndi features on the song I Fall Down. She sings backing vocals and plays the Drone Box. The whole album is available on i-Tunes UK and I Fall Down can be bought as a single track for £0.79.
Vh-1 Classics! All week on VH-1 Classics it is ladies week. Some of Cyndi Lauper's videos will be shown on various programs throughout the week. A special called Top 10 Classic Love Songs from the 80's, Time After Time came in at #7. Another special called Top 40 Classic Love Songs and True Colors was at #27. Top 40 80's Ladies, Cyndi was at #17 & Girls Just Want To Have Fun was shown.
Girl Power - Reunion? This weekend the UK's press where all reporting on the possibility of the Spice Girls reforming. They are rumoured to be in the studio recording tracks. One song they are rumoured to be recording is Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
Magic Loves The 80's - On Sunday 20th May, the video channel Magic celebrated the 80's. One of the shows showcased was 20 Songs That Made The 80's. Girls Just Want To Have Fun was at #5. On another show, Eighty From The 80's, True Colors was shown at position #52.

A Happy Easter too all! And it was a good weekend too for Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi Lauper's Hey Now (Girls Just Want To Have Fun) video was shown on the Biography Channel as a part of their Bio Pop segment. Whilst the video was playing there were snippets about Cyndi Lauper's life and career.
On The Hits Channel, Heat Magazines Top 100 Songs Of All Time, Girls Just Want To Have Fun came in at #70.

Early Bird - Erasure and Cyndi Lauper - Cyndi Lauper has recorded a duet on a new Erasure song called Early Bird. The song was recorded by Erasure during the recent recording sessions for their new album. When they decided to do the True Colors tour, it was suggested to Cyndi to do the duet.
Cyndi's vocals are superb and the track is a very r&b / Prince-y type of track from Vince and Andy - very different to everything else from the new album, and has been mixed by Gareth Jones.

THE WHO's classic single MY GENERATION has been voted the most popular teenage anthem of all time. The 1965 track beat out competition from CYNDI LAUPER's GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN in the poll of 2,000 British adults to mark the 50th anniversary of the term 'teenager'. In third place came ALICE COOPER's SCHOOL'S OUT.
Cyndi Lauper was in the UK to write with other artists from the UK and Europe for her new album. Cyndi has said herself that the new album will be released in 2008.

Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Want To Have Fun is being used as the theme tune for the BBC programme Girls Who Do Comedy. This new three-part series opens with Ms French interviewing comediennes about how humour helped them in their childhoods.
